REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais, SGPS, S.A. (formerly Rede Eléctrica Nacional S.A.) is a Portuguese company. Its main activities are global management of the country's Public Electricity Supply System (PESS), with the aim of guaranteeing the stability and security of electricity supply; operation and development of the national very-high voltage transmission grid in mainland Portugal; management of the portfolio of sites for power stations; and invitation of public tenders for the construction and operation of new power generating plants.
The company is also involved with the storage and transportation of liquefied natural gas, and owns and operates an LNG regasification terminal located at Sines.
